John the Baptist was a prophet who criticised the injust, urged them to repent and prepared the way for Jesus to come.
Perhaps it was because the king saw John's powers in Jesus that made the king afraid of him. This in turn led to suspicion that just like John the Baptist, Jesus would also face a death crisis because of his gospel ministry.
To be advocating for justice and spreading the word of the good news when seeing injustice happen, is something one would be afraid of and is very difficult.
However, like John the Baptist and Jesus, we need to seek the wisdom of the Holy Spirit and its presence so that we can prepare for the coming of Jesus and fulfill our duty of spreading the gospel.
Passage: Matthew 14:1-12
1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus,
2 and he said to his attendants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
