The Threefold prayer meeting that became a new culture
The special 10 day threefold prayer meeting was full of grace. After the Coronavirus where there has been a spiritual thirst, I felt the spiritual heat fill the church every day. It seems to have been an opportunity to change the spiritual flow for the revival of young students and youths who have been struggling through Covid.
I have summarised three things I felt during the special 10 day threefold prayer.
Firstly, it was a prayer meeting where all the generations were united. Usually we have a special early morning prayer meetings, but this time we changed the direction of the evening prayer meeting. The early morning prayer meetings were also graceful, but it seemed to be mainly for the older members at the time. However, this time, the evening prayers meant that the majority of people were of the younger generations including the children, students, young adults, and due to this, all the generations were able to participate together.
Secondly, a new culture of prayer meetings was created. If the common prayer meetings were centred on the communal prayer for the whole church or for individual prayers, this prayer meeting was centred on the threefold prayer in groups of three. The participation rates also seemed to have increased because three people had to gather in a group. At the last part of the prayer meetings, it was gracious to see three people praying for each other here and there. It particular, it seemed to have been an opportunity for people who are not good at praying to learn prayer while praying together.
Thirdly, it was a prayer meeting that crossed the language barrier. As members of all generations and congregations particpated in the prayer meeting together, the praise team was formed as a unity, and the praise was sung in both English and in Korean. Although there were still some shortcomings, it seemed to have become a new starting point for transcending the language barrier for the salvation and revival of souls for muli-ethnic groups in the future. It even gave me the assurance that even if we speak different languages, we can become one through praise and prayer, and that we can become one with the mission to save souls.
The prayer meeting is over, but it is also important after the prayer meetings. So I think that the atmosphere of revival can continue if the united praise teams continue to dedicate themselves to the Wednesday prayer meetings. I hope that the whole generation and congregation will be united through praise, prayer, and the Word together for the mission of salvation of souls and discipleship with the fervent passion so that the halted revival of this age can be continued.
