In today’s passage, Jesus tells His disciples to bring a donkey from somebody. This was to fulfill the word in ‘Isaiah 62:11’ and ‘Zechariah 9:9’ as Jesus entered Jerusalem. Rather planning a donkey in advance to use it, Jesus knew that someone would obey and give Him a donkey for His work.
God is fulfilling His will even right now. For Him to achieve His will, He needs people like the donkey owner in today’s passage, who will spontaneously obey to Him. Even if we do not own much, if ‘the Lord needs you’ I hope that we will obey with a joyful heart and be used for the Kingdom of God.
Passage: Matthew 21:1-11
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,
2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
