All that’s left is ‘defeat’ and ‘ruins’.
God’s glory is no longer present in the southern kingdom of Judah.
King Zedekiah was captured by the Babylonians and he lost his eyes, the temples and palaces in Jerusalem were destroyed by fire, everyone was taken into exile, and all the tools used for God’s offering became Babylonians’ plunder.
Nothing remained where God’s glory had departed.
The Lord left them due to their disobedience towards Him. If we too disobeyed God, our lives will also be ruined and our souls defeated.
Hold onto God so that He does not leave. Always remember His words. And endeavour to live with Him.
Passage: Jeremiah 52:12~23
13 He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.
14 The whole Babylonian army, under the commander of the imperial guard, broke down all the walls around Jerusalem.
15 Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard carried into exile some of the poorest people and those who remained in the city, along with the rest of the craftsmen and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon.
