David’s suppressed soul was impacting his breathing to the point where he was feeling breathless. He was in a sensitive state as a lot of people were spreading rumours and negative words that Saul was about to get him and kill him. All his mind, thoughts and focus was directed towards this.
However, David decided to open his ears and heart towards the word of God. David confesses to God, “Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust..”
When you listen to the voice of the world, your soul will get destroyed and you will die. But if you listen to the word of God everyday which is alive and working, your spirit will be restored. There is no other way. Close your ears to the voice of this world and open your ears to the voice of God.
Passage to read: Psalm 143:1-12
7 Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
11 For your name’s sake, Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
