The Pharisees, who did not know Jesus who came to fulfill the law, judged the rightness of the law and only followed religious ceremonies, they did not like Jesus' behavior and tried to accuse him. The Sabbath is to enjoy true rest in Jesus and give thanks and joy of salvation. However, the Pharisees did not know that the true source of rest and joy was in Jesus. Are we meeting Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, and enjoying the peace and joy He gives?
Passage to read: Matthew 12:1-13
6 I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.
7 If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
