The path of discipleship is surely not charming, comfortable, and always peaceful.
The path of discipleship that Jesus spoke about, the life of a disciple, may be seen as easy,
but it seems that it is a road that cannot be taken, unless we die ourselves.
Only when our thoughts die,
only when we let go of our pride
only when our ego dies,
it seems that we can follow the life the Lord is telling us to.
We think we can love our enemies,
be kind to the people we dislike,
and pray for those who treat us carelessly.
But all these things
Jesus did in the form of a human just like us.
Jesus never makes us do something we cannot do.
He says that ‘I have done it, so you should also do it and teach others too’.
We should meditate deeply on what we are able to do today.
Passage to read: Luke 6:27-38
27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.”
