Peter, an experienced fisherman, lowered his nets all night but could not catch any fish. Then, a crowd of people flocked to the lakeside to hear the word, and Peter began to hear the words of Jesus through the crowd. And, relying on the words of Jesus, Peter went out into the depths and let down his nets. The net that did not catch any fish with Peter’s own experience and knowledge ended up catching enough to tear the net.
Obedience based on the words of Jesus will bear fruits of commitment beyond human rationale. Then, you will become a disciple who is used on a precious mission as fishers of men, not of fish.
I want to lay down my experiences, knowledge, and thoughts and think about what I need to do to obey the Lord's word today and put it into practice.
Passage to read: Luke 5:1-11
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
