          • Seeking and yearning for God

The Philistines did not believe in God and they were a nation filled with the idolatry and sins. The Philistines have constantly tormented the Israelites. God will judge the Philistines who were like this and He declares that they will not be able to escape His punishment. No matter how many times they yearned for salvation to their gods, in the end, the sword of God that punishes could not be stopped.

Many people go to the world and seek for salvation when they are in hardships and pain. However, the world is just simply a temporary solution for the problem right in front of us; it cannot give us eternal rest and peace.
Salvation is only from Jesus Christ who is in control of all and we need to live by seeking and yearning for God as we put down all our problems, pains, and struggles before him.

            Passage to read: Jeremiah 47:1-7
4 For the day has come to destroy all the Philistines and to remove all survivors who could help Tyre and Sidon. The Lord is about to destroy the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.
5 Gaza will shave her head in mourning; Ashkelon will be silenced. You remnant on the plain, how long will you cut yourselves?
6 “‘Alas, sword(H) of the Lord, how long till you rest? Return to your sheath; cease and be still.’
7 But how can it rest when the Lord has commanded it, when he has ordered it to attack Ashkelon and the coast?”
