Paul is shouting to the Christians in Rome, ‘Are you still living according to the flesh? Such life cannot please God.’
To live according to the flesh means to have our minds set on things of the flesh.
It is just like how the Jews lived, disinterested in Jesus’ words and only focused on following the law.
So they were unable to discern God’s will and were always worried and distressed.
But those who live in accordance with the Spirit is governed by the Spirit and have no worries or concerns. Their hearts are filled with life and peace.
Let us deeply meditate, what am I bound by today? The flesh or the Spirit?
Passage: Romans 8:1~11
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
5. How will I apply the Word today?
