I am visiting Fiji with pastors from churches affiliated with the council of House Church ministries. Fiji is a small island country located in the centre of the South Pacific. The reason for visiting Fiji is due to the growing interest in house churches since Missionary Seong Yoon Lim introduced it there.
As the Director of the Oceania House Churches, I planned to briefly review the situation upon request, but at the request of Missionary Seong Yoon Lim, I will lead a House Church seminar for AOG Churches Union, Indian Union Churches, seminary ministry, and Sunday ministries.
The Fiji AOG denomination plans to involve a total of 300 pastors and lay leaders for this House Church seminar and special lectures. This opportunity has shown the AOG denomination's will to create a biblical church through house churches.
The executives of the AOG denomination gathered in a meeting and agreed on the following: First, they will not stop or give up the transition to house churches despite any difficulties. Second, the General Superintendent will personally accompany and conduct national AOG church leadership House Church training. Third, the General Superintendent will train the leaders of the Calvary Temple Church he pastors for six months to establish it as a model House Church. Fourth, translate the Life Studies into Fijian for use in local churches. Fifth, they will explore ways together so that House Church can be spread to other countries in the South Pacific.
Furthermore, I will engage in ministry for Fijian Indian churches. The number of Fijian Indian churches is small, and the evangelization rate is relatively low. The Fijian Indian ministry will gather as a union centred around Kinoya Church, the largest Indian church. The pastor of Kinoya Church, respected in the Indian community, requested House Church training for a new leap forward in Indian churches.
The reason House Church is increasingly needed for Fijian churches is due to the infiltration of cults, such as the Ok Ju Shing group, Grace Road Church in various businesses across society, and the aggressive evangelism and various events from the Good News Mission led by Ok Su Park, which are causing significant confusion in local churches and among believers. Please pray that during this visit to Fiji, we can introduce House Church well to Fijian churches, giving them strong conviction and challenges towards a biblical church.
