          • “Pastor! I want to pray more!”

The Youth Camp was held from 27 to 30 December 2022 and I would like to thank God for the camp ending well with grace. I would also like to thank the many people who dedicated themselves in serving and showing their interest. The camp was a truly thankful one in many ways.

Firstly, I was thankful for the revival in the Sydney Crystal Church Youth ministry. There were 42 students and including volunteers, there was a total of 80 people. I remember the first youth camp 17 years ago. At the time, my wife and I, and 3 students rode in a 7-person church car, and as time has passed, I am grateful that so many people gathered together to hold the camp. I felt and am thankful that God loves the Sydney Crystal Church Youth Group very much.

Secondly, I was thankful for the church members for their love and service towards the next generation. Two weeks before the camp, the youth teachers and I prepared for the camp with a relay fasting prayer by fasting one meal. However, for this camp, the youth’s parents also participated in fasting and praying together. I was thankful when I saw the parents willingly join in prayer with the hope and desire for their children to meet God and generously devoting themselves with food, snacks, and finances.

Thirdly, I was grateful to be able to see the students grow in their faith. I was able to see from the first service what I usually only see on the last day of camp. The students were jumping and singing with joy, raising their voices, and their gaze was on the Lord and their singing was to the Lord. I was touched just by looking at this, but seeing them earnestly calling out ‘Lord!’ and praying with tears gave me a great feeling of gratitude as a person serving them by their side. At the last worship service, after praise and the sermon message and 3 hours and 40 minutes of prayer time, being in total 5 hours of worship, amazing words flowed from the lips of the students came as they thought about the next year’s camp. "Pastor! I want to pray more!”, “Pastor! Let us pray more!” We had prayed for a long time – 3 hours and 40 minutes, but seeing the students with eyes wide open saying they wanted to pray more was a great joy and thankfulness for me, as a pastor.

I believe that through these times, their faith will grow. I believe that the camp was able to finish well with grace like this, not because of the hard work and efforts of any one person, but because of the interest and love of many church members, and above all, the work of God who was glorified and guided us in every moment from the beginning to the end. We ask that you continue to pray for and love the next generation.
