          • Word of blessing for 2023: “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4)

The new year of 2023 has begun. For the past year, I have been holding on to the word, “Remain in me” (John 15:5). As a result, I am grateful that there are many belivers who are trying to live a life of living in the Lord through daily meditation on the Word.

The word of blessing for 2023 has been set to “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). When Jesus came to this earth, the angels said “…I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” (Luke 2:10). And before Jesus’ death, he said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11).

The event of Jesus saving us is like the proclamation of a spiritual jubilee, just like the events of the Jubilee in the Old Testament (the debt relief that comes once every 50 years, freedom of slaves, return of property to the original owners, etc..). In other words, as Jesus said, when the Gospel is proclaimed, it is an event that liberates the prisoners, recovers the sight for the the blind, and frees the oppressed (Luke 4:18). That’s why Christians can’t help but rejoice.

So the apostle Paul said, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I say again. Rejoice!” (Phililppians 4:4). Augustine said, “Christians must be Hallelujah from head to toe.” I hope that by training joy throughout the year, the joy that the Lord gives will be filled in your family and life in the church, in the house churches, and in your life.

In addition, I will be visiting Korea for 3 weeks for my son’s wedding (Groom: Ye Chan Song, Bride: Ha Rim Kim) on January 7th (Departure January 2nd). Thinking of the members who have been praying for me, who is the senior pastor of our church, and my family, that the wedding should be in Australia, but please understand that the decision of the wedding in Korea was made with the consideration for the prospective daughter-in-law who will have to leave Korea to come to Australia and for the in-laws who will need to separate from their daughter and send her to Australia. Please pray that this wedding will be full of grace.

During our visit to Korea, we will be staying at the Ansan Manna Church Mission Hall. And at the 3 churches (Hwa Seong Joam Jeil Church, Nam Song Church, and Seong Nam Grace Road Church), we will also be attending the Word ministry on Sundays, and Shepherds and shepherds’ wives seminar. On Friday evening, I will be sharing a message at Shin Wol Dong Holiness Church. Please pray that I will be able to deliver the Word that is essential to the situation of the churches I visit by the power of the Holy Spirit.
