Pastoral Plans and Expectations for 2022
It is the start of 2022. From the beginning of this new year, we are yet not free of COVID through the Omicron variant, however, I am hopeful that we will soon overcome this and become free of COVID. With this in mind, I would like to share my ministry plan of focus for 2022.
Firstly, it is the reorganisation of the house church ministry centering on the three axes (Sunday corporate worship, house church, and life studies) and four pillars. We are going to check the soil for biblical growth by checking whether the biblical principles and spirit of the three axes and four pillars are being sustainably maintained. In particular, for the Sunday corporate worship, I would like us to prepare for the singles and general adult congregation to together experience a more richer grace while worshipping. For the bible study to become more active by being run by teams so that more people can participate in bible studies. For house churches, to be able to reorganise parts of the house church that has been weakened by COVID and for the salvation of the lost to become more active.
Secondly, it is the personal spiritual training through meditating on the bible (QT or Quiet Time). As we passed through COVID, I strongly felt the need for personal spiritual training that would not be destroyed by circumstances. As Jesus said in the parable about the vine, when we abide in the word of the Lord, who is the vine, we can obtain abundant fruit from the overflowing vitality. So, this year, we will be holding on to the words “remain in me” (John 15:5) and plan to provide individuals with spiritual training to remain and hold onto the word of the Lord.
Thirdly, it is to revitalise the ministry of the next generation. In particular, there are many children in Sydney Crystal Church so we are trying to establish the house church ministry for children so that the three axes of Sunday Corporate Worship, house church and life bible studies can also be provided to the children. We are planning to run a children’s bible school (camp) where all members of the church can serve together. I think the youth house church ministry is well established. Last week, at the youth camp, many people served, especially many singles served together, demonstrating the beauty of the unity between youth and the singles. For singles, I want them to grow through participating and volunteering in various ministries. I look forward to the singles actively getting involved with Sunday School, Youth Ministry and the singles united ministries and for creative and diverse activities such as the united singles camps and picnics.
