          • We need discernment for online videos

We live in an age of internet media, and there are many online contents being developed for Christians. I’m grateful for the role it’s playing in developing the Christian culture and spreading the gospel.
However, we must also beware of it as there are many contents that cause confusion or are toxic to us rather than spiritually benefiting us. When you click on a video that is not commonly dealt with at church, it’s either a video of a cult or one that is critical and condemning. Some popular websites have videos of the Shincheonji, Seventh Day Adventist Church, The World Mission Society Church of God, JMS and other cults topping the charts. They invest hugely on their videos to dominate the media and many Christians are becoming exposed to them and being negatively influenced by them, without proper discernment.
I would like to suggest four ideas for correct discernment when it comes to online videos.
First, regardless of how entertaining a video is, we must understand who uploaded it and what their intentions were. If you are unable to figure it out on your own, you can discuss it with a minister.
Secondly, we must prioritize the Words and spiritual training the church provides and learn to make proper discernment. Videos you can access quite easily anywhere and anytime can be like instant food. And this can make us have an individual-oriented faith rather than a community-oriented one.
Thirdly, we must practice reading and meditating the Word and feeding our souls. Otherwise, we will start judging based on the knowledge gained through videos and have a false belief that we have strong faith.
Fourthly, being recommended websites with good Christian videos and Bible learning websites can help us learn what we lack and it will help in our spiritual development.

            This week’s message
The church will open this week for dawn prayer service from 5.30am.
