The people of Israel held on to the words of the old prophet's promise of a Messiah and lived in anticipation of a Messiah to come and save them despite of the hard days. However, there have been people who doubted or were disappointed about the coming of a Messiah, because he did not come for a long time. After hundreds of years, Jesus, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the body of a virgin, came as the Immanuel, the Savior to save us from sin. God's promise is surely fulfilled. Even in situations that take a long time and are incomprehensible, God wants long patience, gentle, and complete obedience to fulfill his will in his time.
I pray that I can wait for God's work with patience and gentleness without giving up, even though I have prayed for a long time.
Passage to read: Matthew 1:18-25
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
