          • From Doubt to Assurance...

The more we have doubts about our faith, the more we need to depend on the Lord. When John the Baptist was hated and imprisoned by King Herod, he sent his disciples to Jesus to confirm that Jesus was the one he had been waiting for.

            Who was John the Baptist?
He knew that Jesus was the Messiah, and was used to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord. However even he momentarily doubted that Jesus was Lord.

But Jesus did not rebuke those who doubted for their faith, but once again worked his power to give them assurance. I hope that we will be children of God who do not doubt the Lord because our spiritual eyes are darkened due to our circumstances and difficulties, but rather trust in the Word of the faithful Lord.

            Passage to read: Luke 7:18-35
20 When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’”
21 At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind.
22 So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
