We say that we believe in Jesus, but we don’t seem to have full faith.
This was the case for the people of Nazareth, the hometown where Jesus lived and the same for the people who even heard the miracles of Jesus and didn’t believe.
Why?
This was because of their preconception.
No way it’s the son of Joseph who lives with them!
The Lord’s Anointed Messiah? It was because they had doubtful thoughts like this.
We too can be like this.
We may not be able to experience God’s power in our lives due to our preconceptions of ‘no way’ or ‘really’.
I hope that we will put down our thoughts of ‘no way’ and ‘surely’, and live a life believing what the Lord has said will be done and following that.
Passage to read: Luke 4:16-30
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
