Even as his death drew near, Paul was not shaken by the calling he had received. In general, when people face death due to false accusations, they become resentful and do not even want to pray. However even in a situation where Paul faced death unfairly while preaching the gospel, he confessed that he 'became an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God'.
As such, Paul had a firm belief in his mission.
And Paul's confident attitude of not giving up faith even in the face of death shows the true form of faith, not only for Timothy but also for us today. I hope that Paul's faith, which did not change under any circumstance, and the image of his confident faith can be shared with all of us in the same way.
Passage to read: 2 Timothy 1:1-7
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, in keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my dear son: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience,as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.
