There is a confession that Job makes in Job 23:10 that says ‘But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.’
Job’s friends conclude that Job’s sufferings are due to his sins, and tells Job to repent since there will be no reason for God to give him sufferings without a cause as He is someone who makes no mistakes.
However Job is also aware that God has authority and that He makes no mistakes. Job displays an attitude of trust, that his sufferings are not, as his friends say, ‘what goes around comes around’ but shows that he believes in God’s providence and God’s plan.
It seems like Job knows that God’s thoughts are deeper and higher than ours.
It seems like Job was aware that God’s power is far greater than we can ever imagine, to have been able to make such a confession like ‘But he knows the way that I take’.
Although we may not understand the reasons for our sufferings, I hope that we become victorious today as we trust in the goodness and benevolence of God.
Passage to read: Job 26:1~14
12 By his power he churned up the sea; by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces.
13 By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent.
14 And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”
