Technically there was nothing incorrect in Job’s friend, Eliphaz’s words. However, they hurt Job. Through these words I realise we need to speak with empathy and a warm heart.
There is another thing I realise. It is that God speaks through many different ways. Although the channel in which Job heard these things may have been through hurtful ways in Job’s perspective, God uses those channels of hurtful words, words that we do not want to hear, sufferings that we want to avoid, and a variety of others ways to speak to us.
The person who is listening needs an open ear when they listen.
Passage to read: Job 15:1-16
14. What are mortals, that they could be pure, or those born of woman, that they could be righteous?
15 If God places no trust in his holy ones if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,
16 how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt, who drink up evil like water!
