Job’s third friend Zophar is the cruellest and the rudest out of the three. He does not accept any ideas that disagrees with his opinion. What he says is not wrong, in fact he says all the right things. However it does not benefit Job in any way and only causes him more pain.
What we learn from Zophar is “what is right must always be accompanied by love.” We ought to speak the truth, but always in love (Eph 4:15).
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing. (1 Cor 13:2)
We may not be able to do anything for the hurting souls living in this current era, but all they may need is someone that ‘sympathises’ with them. Just like lending a seat to a soul that is crouching down to avoid the pouring rain.
Passage: Job 11:1-11
7 “Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
8 They are higher(L) than the heavens above- what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below- what can you know?
9 Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.
