In order to save the Israelites, God put the Spirit of the Lord on Gideon and even sent an army. However, as Gideon lacks assurance in God’s work of salvation he asks for a sign.
The fear that Gideon still had despite the glorious calling God have him, and the doubt that he had regarding God’s works are aspects that can also be seen in our lives.
When we live out the calling that God has given us, let’s believe that God is sovereign and not doubt the power that He possesses as go forth with our calling.
Passage to read: Judges 6:33-40
36 Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised— 37 look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.”
