The first generation usually don’t want their children, the next generation, to live like them. I would say the Israelites were no different. The Israelites had been especially called for God’s Kingdom. God gave them blessings, made them great in number, and led them to the land He chose for them. God gave them absolute grace.
However, when God promised grace to the Israelites, there was a catch. They also had to keep a promise with God and it was to obey God’s words.
We seem to teach about God of promise, the faithful God, but fail to teach the consequences of disobeying His words.
We ought to pass on not only our legacy of faith but also show them how we ought to live.
Passage: Judges 2:1~10
8 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten.
9 And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.
10 After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
