The judgements and decisions for every small and big dispute and the informing of the decrees and instructions was not only difficult for Moses as he was doing it by himself, but it was also hard on those waiting for a response.
When Jethro saw this, he suggested an efficient way that would distribute the task so that both parties would not be worn out.
If the leader, whether it be in our area of ministry, house church, workplace, or in our community, takes on the all duties by themselves the leader will eventually burn out and that community will fall apart.
To build up strong community, it is important to assign tasks to faithful companions, and create rules for efficiency.
Passage to read: Exodus 18:13-27
21 But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain —and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.
22 Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you.
