As pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he kept refusing the word of God, not letting the Israelites go, God struck down the land with the third and the fourth plague through Moses and Aaron. Through these plagues, God is continuously saying “I am the Lord, God who rules this land. There is no one like me anywhere in this world.”
Those who see the power of God but does not acknowledge the master of this land will eventually perish. But for those who believe and follow God, just as the plagues did not hit the Israelites who stayed in the land of Goshen, God will protect us and lead us to salvation.
I hope we can all let go of the heart of self-exaltation and not pursue the glamorous things of this world but live a life participating in God’s work of saving the souls, whom He loves and live for the kingdom and glory of God.
Passage to read: Exodus 8:16-24
17 They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats.
18 But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere,
19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.
