Egypt almost faced a seven year long famine but overcame the crisis thanks to Joseph’s wisdom. God was with Joseph and the Israelites, so Egypt also received His blessings along with them.
However, the newly appointed King did not know Joseph or God. He made judgements based on what he saw and knew and did not realise how precious God’s people, who were God’s channel of blessings, were. As a result, they end up throwing away their blessings.
We need spiritual vision and interpretation that is different to others in the world. Let us rely on God’s power that surpasses our knowledge and judgement and live a truely blessed life the world does not know.
Passage: Exodus 1:1-14
8 Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt.
9 “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us.
10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.”
11 So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.
