We can feel God’s deep sighs.
To compromise means to yield to each other and meet halfway.
In today’s Scripture, Pharaoh tries to offer a compromise to God’s words.
‘I will let you sacrifice to God, but do it here.’
But this was impossible because the Egyptians detested the Israelites giving sacrifice to God.
Pharaoh then tells them to ‘go elsewhere to sacrifice, but not too far’.
Pharaoh did not want to completely listen to them and only allowed half of their request.
Half faith, prayers of compromising with the Lord, is this not us?
Half obeying and trying to compromise with God displeases Him.
What pleases God is complete faith and obeying His words.
Passage: Exodus 8:25-32
25 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God here in the land.”
26 But Moses said, “That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the Lord our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us?
27 We must take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, as he commands us.”
