          • Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.

The Pharisees were not satisfied when they looked at the actions of Jesus and his disciples, and they considered these actions to be dirtying the temple. To those people, Jesus insists that He is far greater than the temple and that it is Jesus himself, who is the Lord of the Sabbath.
After that, He heals a man whose hand is shrivelled up and makes known that He desires mercy instead of sacrifices.

Whilst we live out our life of faith there could be times where we forget the essence of the gospel because we are too tied up with our religious outer-appearance of Christianity. Jesus is the one who gives us true rest and we need to follow his heart and will so that He, who values one soul over a structure that only has an outer appearance, can be Lord over our lives.

            Passage to read: Matthew 12:1-21
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
9 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue,
10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
11 He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?
12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
