Today the Lord is showing us through the Scripture the consequences of trying to have absolute power.
He exalted himself, belittled God, and placed idols covered in gold jewellery in God’s temple.
So the Lord destroys him after seeing his deeds and his heart.
Do we not also try to exalt ourselves? Have we not drifted away from God by our desires for worldly power and authority? Has this made us happy?
The wise are those who rely on God. Let us remember that the wise are those who humble themselves and seek God’s Kingdom.
Passage: Daniel 11:36-45
36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place.
37 He will show no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all.
