Shemaiah prophesied as if he was a prphet sent by God and persuaded the people to trust in lies.
And to a person like Shemaiah, God says that he will surely punish him and his descendants.
It is a big sin, disobliging God when one persuades others to believe in the 'word of God' that has been turned into lies.
Shemaiah planted false hope in the people in Jerusalem, distorted God's will and therefore made it hard for the people to understand His will straight away.
In difficult situations, everyone would want to hear encouraging words of blessing and live a better life. And in this world, one can hear these comforting words and methods anywhere.
However, in any one time, instead of leaning on these messages that give false hope, I hope for all of you to be led by the Holy Spirit so that we can discern what His will is and live a life that is blessed by God.

30 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah:
31 “Send this message to all the exiles: ‘This is what the Lord says about Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, even though I did not send him, and has persuaded you to trust in lies,
