To the Israelites held captive in Babylon, Jeremiah delivers a message from God who cherishes the Israelites’ lives.
The message was to “bow their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and they will live.”
They were told to wait for God’s timing and to remain where they were despite embarrassments and insults.
However, if they ‘fall for false temptations and fail to wait for God’s timing and try to leave, they would suffer even greater hardship.’
The reason God told the Israelites to remain here and serve the Babylonians was to protect them from ‘battles’, ‘famine’ and ‘plagues’.
If I truly received God’s message,
We must remain here, continue to pray, and seek the Lord’s help.
I hope for God’s timing and His guidance.
Passage: Jeremiah 27:12~22
12 I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said, “Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.
13 Why will you and your people die by the sword, famine and plague with which the Lord has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
14 Do not listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying lies to you.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
5. How will you apply the Word today?
