In the beginning, God created everything in 6days and then had rest on the 7th. The word ‘rest’ from Genesis represents the happiness and joy God felt with his creations, rather than physical rest.
In today’s passage we can see God restoring that true rest. No matter how high or low we are on the social hierarchy, or what our duties or positions are, anyone can hope to receive a true joyful ‘rest’ in God.
In our lives, how much ‘rest’ do we get? Even though a busy and diligent life is a blessing, a true blessing is being able to experience joy with those you love and having the opportunity to worship God. In the name of Jesus I pray that we may all be able to experience the blessing of this true ‘rest’ in our house churches.
Passage: Deuteronomy 12:8-19
11 Then to the place the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name—there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the Lord.
12 And there rejoice before the Lord your God—you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites from your towns who have no allotment or inheritance of their own.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to me?
3. What do I need to obey?
4. Write a list of thankful prayer points.
