God wants us to live a faithful life, obeying His words and never compromising with the world and our circumstances. He doesn’t want us to fall because of our shallow rooted faith.
So today, through Moses, God tells the Israelites about the decrees and laws they are to follow in the Promised Land- to destroy their idols, smash their sacred stones and burn their pole so that noone will ever remember the past things.
This makes me think that God probably wants the same kind of faith from us.
He wants us to be adamant and turn away from the things we valued more than Jesus before we believed in Him.
There is no compromising in faith.
Think about whether your heart is set on anything else besides God and whether you are compromising your faith and if you are, firmly destroy those things this very moment.
Deuteronomy 12:1~7
2 Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods.
3 Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places.
4 You must not worship the Lord your God in their way.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
