          • Cancel debts

God wanted His people, those that believed in Him, to live a ‘holy life’ set apart from the world.
So He tells us about wealth that He has allowed us (tithe) and today He talks about transaction of money between people in the community.
God says that ‘whoever has debt owing’ does not have to repay it. But He says we may require money back from foreigners (unbelievers).
Why is this? He wanted the believers to live a life set apart from the world and the unbelievers to see this and want to become God’s people.

The world sees God through the life and hearts of those who believe in Jesus.
We can save unbelieving souls through our thoughts and behaviours.
Please reflect on yourselves with the Word as a mirror. Whether your heart, thoughts and actions truly are ‘holy’.

            Passage: Deuteronomy 15:1~11
1 At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts.
2 This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel any loan they have made to a fellow Israelite. They shall not require payment from anyone among their own people, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed.
3 You may require payment from a foreigner, but you must cancel any debt your fellow Israelite owes you.
4 However, there need be no poor people among you, for in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you,

            1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
            2. What is God’s message to you?
            3. What do you need to obey?
            4. What are you grateful for today?
