The Canaanite people wounded their bodies as a sign of sorrow for the dead. It was an old tradition that the ancient Gentiles harmed themselves for the dead.
Moses instructed the Israelites to not imitate these customs and traditions.
This was because the people of Israel were God's people who were set apart to be holy.
We are God's precious children and we are his holy people.
Let's take a look at our life and see if we are chasing the lives of the Gentiles. I hope we live a life separate from the world.
Deuteronomy 14:1-21
1. You are the children of the Lord your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,
2. for you are a people holy to the Lord your God.Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.
1. Did you think about Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God telling me?
3. What do I need to obey?
4. What are your thankful for?
