Moses went up the mountain and fasted forty days and nights to receive the stone tablets of the covenant law God had made with the Israelites.
But at the foot of the mountain, the Israelites had made idols that would make them prosper and give them what they wanted and God became furious at this sight.
Who would like it if we did whatever we wanted to and constantly did things God detested?
God gave us the covenant so that we wouldn’t sin against Him and receive His blessings.
But we are always the first to break the covenant. The moment we become self oriented, we easily forsake God.
Who is breaking the promise with God first?
Let us meditate today on what God expects from us.
Passage: Deuteronomy 9:9~21
11 At the end of the forty days and forty nights, the Lord gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.
12 Then the Lord told me, “Go down from here at once, because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have become corrupt. They have turned away quickly from what I commanded them and have made an idol for themselves.”
13 And the Lord said to me, “I have seen this people, and they are a stiff-necked people indeed!
16 When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the Lord your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the Lord had commanded you.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
