What is a saint? It is those who have been completely cured of sin at the high cost of Jesus’ death on the cross. When Jesus says “It is finished”, it means he had accomplished salvation for us, who were destined for eternal death because of our sin.
As I look at myself fearing COVID-19 entering my body, it makes me wonder if I have ever been afraid of sin, which is far more fearful than any virus, entering me. We were once confirmed of sin, greater than any virus, but we have received eternal life and are completely cured through Jesus’ blood.
We were once spreading sin without knowing it, but now we are living a life of saving souls dying from sin.
Passage: John 19:28-27
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”
29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
