‘Jesus came down from heaven and anyone who believes in him will have eternal life?’ ‘Is that really true?’
This is how those who don’t believe in Jesus ‘grumble’. Like the Jews in today’s passage.
‘Grumbling’ is a typical behaviour that appears when you don’t believe someone.
When we are not certain about someone, don’t we, too, grumble about them?
Why do we grumble so much when we don’t know?
Maybe it’s because we’re not amicable with the other person!
Maybe it’s because we don’t know the other person well enough!
If we don’t know Jesus, and don’t know that we can only be saved by believing in him, we too can ‘grumble’ like the Jews.
If you don’t know Jesus, please try to become closer to him.
Let us keep God’s words close to us, spend time with those who do know God well, and endeavour to learn more about God today.
The same applies in our lives.
I will not say anything if I don’t know, and I won’t grumble if I’m not certain.
I will try to become more amicable with the other person to learn more about them.
Passage: John 6:41~51
41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”
43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered.
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
