When you are the centre of attention and people are raving about you, you need to stop and look at yourself.
Think about ‘why God has called me to be here, and who has allowed the fruit of my calling’.
The disciples of John the Baptist must have been upset that people were going to Jesus, and not their teacher.
But John clearly explains to his disciples about his calling.
He says to them, ‘The Lord has used me and that’s enough for me’. And he makes this confession to his disciples, ‘He must become greater; I must become less.’
I will always be humble. It is not my doing but the Lord’s.
I have been made useful only because God has used me, and I am grateful for this. Lord, this is enough for me.
Passage: John 3:22-36
24 (This was before John was put in prison.) 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.
28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2. What is God’s message to you?
3. What do you need to obey?
4. What are you grateful for today?
