- God sees the heart
  
  In today’s passage, a woman pours perfume worth 300 denarion (approximately 30 million won) over Jesus’ head. At the time, it was customary for the Jews to pour perfume on their guests’ head. But when people saw what this woman did, they criticised her saying, “Did she really have to do that?” However, unlike them, Jesus complimented her because He saw her heart, beneath her actions.
  
  When we follow Jesus in our lives, we can sometimes be too busy to look after our own selves. And those who don’t understand may judge you and say, “Is it really necessary to live the way you’re living?” Such comments may make us feel lonely and feel as if our efforts are not being acknowledged. However, God remembers. He looks at our motives underneath our actions.
  
  Passage: Mark 14:1-11
  3 While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.
  4 Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume?
  5 It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly.
  6 “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
