The Israelites were once God’s people, praising and worshipping Him. However, they no longer worshipped Him but other gods they liked and forgot about Him. How would have God felt about this, when He had rescued them from Egypt and looked after them like children?
Seeing the Israelites constantly leaving God and forgetting about His grace would have filled God’s heart with sadness and grief. God continued to love them but they were no longer interested in Him.
What does God want from us today? It would be to know His heart. When we let go of our thoughts and try to understand His heart, we will become God’s joy.
Passage: Jeremiah 16:14-21
20 Do people make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!”
21 “Therefore I will teach them— this time I will teach them my power and might. Then they will know that my name is the Lord.
