Early in the morning, people dragged Jesus to the palace of the Roman governor.
They asked for Jesus to be charged by Pilate outside the palace because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover. These people may have kept the religious rituals, but they did not know the will of God.
It was not long ago that they witnessed the miracle of Jesus feeding five thousand people with 5 loaves and 2 fish. They were the ones that wanted to make Jesus King and those who shouted hosanna, but now they betrayed Jesus and were crying out to kill Him.
If our faith is not focussed on God's will but our own wills, we will also have the possibility of betraying Jesus and killing him again on the cross like them.
Passage to read: John 18:28-40
28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor.By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?”
40 They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising.
1.Did you think about Jesus when you woke up this morning?
2.What is God’s message to me?
3.What do I need to be obedient to?
4.Write a list of thankful prayer points today.
