Jesus warns His disciples of the dangers of the yeast. (In Scripture, yeast often symbolizes sin because sin permeates, contaminates, and puffs up without adding substance). But unfortunately, the disciples do not understand what Jesus is saying. Jesus rebukes his disciples and says “You have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear”. Letting them know that they are spiritually deaf and blind.
We often too misunderstand God and may deliver incorrect information to others, walk down on a wrong path and harm others. We are yet weak and insufficient but we should continuously serve God wholeheartedly, be spiritually awake to wholly understand God’s words and live as his disciples.
Passage: Mark 8:14-26 ERV
15 “Jesus warned them, “Be careful! Guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”
16 The followers discussed the meaning of this. They said, “He said this because we have no bread.”
17 Jesus knew that the followers were talking about this. So he asked them, “Why are you talking about having no bread?
18 Do you still not see or understand? Are you not able to understand? Do you have eyes that can’t see? Do you have ears that can’t hear? Remember what I did before, when we did not have enough bread?”
1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
