          • Not habitually, but wholeheartedly

            We should not treat going to church every week and worshiping as a mere habit.
            In today’s passage, Jesus criticises the Pharisees and teachers of the law by quoting Isaiah. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were people that cared about the outward appearance. They worshiped God not with their hearts but only with their lips. They did not have sincerity in their hearts and were caught up in human traditions.
            I look back at myself to see whether or not I am worshiping God like the Pharisees and the teachers.
            Physically, we may worship God with our long standing habits of following the tradition, but our hearts should worship Him with complete sincerity.
            God wants our sincerity; let us give Him our hearts completely and wholly. ‘My Lord, I love You, please use me.’

            Passage: Mark 7:1-13

            6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
            “‘These people honor me with their lips,
                but their hearts are far from me.
            7 They worship me in vain;
                their teachings are merely human rules.’
            8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

            1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
            2. What is God’s message to you?
            3. What do you need to obey?
            4. What are you grateful for today?
