          • Christmas eve

The shepherds herding the sheep were taken by surprise by the angels that suddenly appeared upon them in the middle of the night.
They may have thought that the angels were ghosts or even an illusion, or the glory of God that shone upon them may have terrified them because they thought that judgement was upon them.
The angels tell the terrified shepherds not to be afraid as they were bringing them good news of the birth of Jesus Christ.

We are also stressed when we come across unexpected situations like the shepherds did. We fear that it might be something bad.
When we feel weary in our lives, Jesus’ good news gives us strength and power, just as he gave the shepherds huge strength and hope.

This Christmas, let us look forward to Jesus that renews.
Let us not look forward to the kind of Christmas that the worldly people look forward to, with gifts, Santa and parties, but let it be a day in which we honour Jesus and are filled with joy of God.

            Passage: Luke 2:1-14
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

            1. Did you think of Jesus when you woke up this morning?
            2. What is God’s message to you?
            3. What do you need to obey?
            4. What are you grateful for today?
