Amaziah who was prideful, engaged in war with the Israelites. However he could not win because God was not with him. In the end he was tragically killed.
In our life, we must always be careful that we do not reveal our own righteousness when God has given victory just as Amaziah did. We must be able to listen to God and live humbly.
2 Chronicles 25:14-28
19.You say to yourself that you have defeated Edom, and now you are arrogant and proud. But stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?”
20.Amaziah, however, would not listen, for God so worked that he might deliver them into the hands of Jehoash, because they sought the gods of Edom.
