To destroy the promised word of God, Athalia kills all the heirs of King David’s throne. However, through God’s plan, the baby Jehoash laid by God’s priest Jehoiada and his wife Jehosheba is kept safe.
Jehoiada and his wife just held on to God’s word of promise, without trying to value the life and therefore kept him safe.
Seeing these people, we can reflect on ourselves. We can look back on ourselves on whether or not ‘we believe in the word of promise from God and are living by faith’ and ‘we live by holding onto God’s Word til the very end, even when our lives have no hope and is in hardship’
Passage : 2 Chronicles 23:1-21
1 In the seventh year Jehoiada showed his strength. He made a covenant with the commanders of units of a hundred: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zikri.
2 They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites and the heads of Israelite families from all the towns. When they came to Jerusalem,
3 the whole assembly made a covenant with the king at the temple of God. Jehoiada said to them, “The king’s son shall reign, as the Lord promised concerning the descendants of David.
