Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah for 25 years. Jehoshaphat lived in the ways that was right in the eyes of the Lord. But he leaves the high places undemolished. These high places become entrapments for the people of Israel who do not set their hearts wholeheartedly on God alone. Later, Jehoshaphat king of Judah made an alliance with Ahaziah king of Israel, whose ways were wicked.
Displeased with their alliance, God warns through His servant Eliezer that He will destroy the ships they made and forbid all their plans.
God wants us to live honestly, correctly with unchanging heart, from beginning to the end. It's really hard to serve God with consistency. But when we face obstacles, we should rely on God and be brave just like how Jehoshaphat found, praised God, and relied to him before the great war, that he experienced his capable and powerful God. God will accompany with us and fight for us when we seek him.
2 Chronicles 20:31-37
32 He followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD.
33 The high places, however, were not removed, and the people still had not set their hearts on the God of their ancestors.
34 The other events of Jehoshaphat’s reign, from beginning to end, are written in the annals of Jehu son of Hanani, which are recorded in the book of the kings of Israel.
