The prophet Micaiah was in a situation where he was threatened to tell a lie to the king however, he doesn’t and says he will only tell the truth. In life, there are times where we get tempted to tell a lie to get around a bad situation.
It is also a kind of lie to exaggerate or to hide the entire truth and only speak of something well. The truth will always be exposed at the end of the day. Let us check whether there are any false spirit in our hearts or minds without us being aware of it.
Passage: 2 Chronicles 18:12-27
12 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.”
13 But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what my God says.”
21 “‘I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.
“‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the Lord. ‘Go and do it.’
22 “So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.”
